That kiss she gave James at 3:40 to 3:44 was her goodbye kiss. She knew that was the last time she will see him. I’m so sad that they did not live happily ever after.
can anyone help me with my dyslexic mind. i dont get who vesper was working for how she knew she would end up being killed and by who and whats the signifigance of this ‘boyfreind’ anyway and then she kills herself i just find it really confusing what the hells going on please help.
Eva Green’s performance in this film continues to amaze me. Freeze this clip right at the beginning (say, 02:00) and look at her eyes; one can see the ambivalence of the character in Green’s eyes, which makes sense only *after* we learn about Vesper’s boyfriend and the deal she worked out both to double-cross Bond AND to save his life.
She loved James, she still loved that squalid Algerian puke, and she must have known she was likely to be killed.
I wonder which idiot is going round giving perfectly normal comments like ‘that’s the ultimate gesture, giving up your job for someone you love’ a minus? What’s offensive about that? Perhaps they can’t read English let alone understand it. Annoyed now. I know, Craig will make it better, if not there’s Doctor Who.
actually Bond did ‘die’ for her – there’s that scene isn’t there, when she’s kidnapped and she’s lying on the road and he suddenly sees her and just swings the car which goes flying, its a miracle he survived, so he would have died for her too.
Vesper is by far my fave Bond woman, the writers did a fantastic job with her, I can’t think of anyone who could even come close – anyone? The others all pale in comparison and seem rather two-dimensional.
Actually I was talking about Bond, now if he died…well we wouldn’t have a story now would we? That is the ultimate gesture of love for him because his job defines him.

I think there is small bit that is missing, where Bond is attacked by gunmen before he goes into the house. What happen to that part?

Nope. By this time Le Chiffre (you got it right, btw!) was food for worms, and deservedly so.

Close, but you’re wrong…
The ultimate gesture is to die for someone you love like Vesper.
