he had to be trained to hold his breath that long… i tried to when the part came when he dived in, i had to breath when she was touching him for a while lol
About this one: It’s a rather nice spy movie, but in absence of any reality concerning espionage, I would welcome some in physics, medicine and the visibility in the water in venice.
I think you explained it good. The first time she helped Quantum (in saving her boyfriend) by assisting Le Chiffre win the poker game, proved unsuccessful. Quantum knew torturing Bond to get the account info wouldnt work, nor would torturing her. So she was then sent-in a second time (maybe it was her idea even). This time was not only to help save her boyfriends life but maybe Bonds too (thats less clear). She clearly bit the bullet at the end out of shame of her betraying Bond.
This movie is quite disturbing and haunting yet poignant. She both betrayed and paid the ultimate price for the men she came to love. Not the typical bond fare. Not really a bond movie. But it’s interesting that others seem to like it. I would think most bond afficionados may not. This is a great movie, but maybe not a great ‘bond’ movie.
I agree with others, Licence to Kill was one of the best bond movies.
Unfortunately that’s about as simple as I can make it. Bond and M’s conversation afterwards explains it a bit and Quantum of Solace (which is a horrible movie) explains it even more.
how on earth would she have the phone number for the quantom and how did she phone them to help bond because she was in trouble before him and why was she thinking she was marching off to her death?
Remember when Mr. White killed Le Chiffre whilst he was torturing Bond? M explains it all. The reason why Bond wasn’t killed that night was because Vesper made a deal with White and Quantum: if she gives them the money they spare Bond. But as M put it: “She knew she was marching off to her death.” Although she wanted to live after she watched Bond kill the thugs she knew that he was an MI6 agent at heart. She didn’t want him and MI6 being endangered thanks to her so she did that to save them.
I like this movie becuase like all good stories it has a moral. In case you don’t what the moral is the moral is quite simple: “Do not, under any conditions, mess with James Bond because if you do he will fuck your shit up, beat your ass 6 ways to Sunday and proceed to fuckin’ end you.” Just ask Gettler and his thugs in this scene.
what i dont get is that they were both under for roughly the same amount of time, yet james surfaces fit as a fidle and she drowns. did she inhale the water on purpose so he would give up?
yeah, she was used from the beginning. Everything that happened was planned in order to happen. But in truth she really did love him. If you watch the end of Quantum of Solace you’ll see that when Bond comes out of a building, he tells “M” that she was right about Vesper, she was right that Vesper truly loved him. =P It’s kind of hard to explain the entire thing.
if she stayed alive, than the organization(Quantum) would use her to get to bond. She killed herself so they wouldn’t get to him because she loved him.
The two women in this movie are excellently portrayed. They die not because they were stupid, or evil, or deserved it, but because they got royally screwed over by total assholes.

My thoughts exactly.
Except for that part about license to kill.
